Alimony Pendente Lite (APL)

Alimony pendente lite, or APL, is a type of spousal support available to the spouse who earns less money during the course of divorce proceedings for the purpose of paying legal fees. APL is designed to put the parties on equal footing to allow them each to finance the legal process of divorce, custody, and/or support. It would be unfair if one spouse was able to afford the best legal representation and live comfortably while the other spouse struggles to get by and cannot afford an attorney.
